I’m convinced that it will take years before America really understands the impact GWB’s incompetence had on the US. This is, of course, his real crime. Wailing about a president’s ideology is a waste of time when his base competence is in question. Take torture for example - America should not endorse torture, but the argument against torture is practical rather than moral. A nation possessing nuclear weapons can hardly make a moral argument about waterboarding.
The election of GWB was a huge mistake on the part of the American people (who are responsible whether they voted for him or not), and we should examine how our political and social systems allowed this event to take place. Sadly this is unlikely to happen outside of a “historical” timeline, i.e. decades.
