The Old Days And Getting Old.
In “the old days’ I’d happily install the latest application, utility or whatnot without thinking. In fact, I’d actively read something like Version Tracker to see if there even were beta updates I could load.
As I get older, I don’t seem to care anymore.
I also really enjoy when stuff works.
My system is pretty stable, so when I get an alert that “MailActOn” has an update and wants to install, I say to myself, “Um, MailActOn works fine” and “I really hope this doesn’t break my mail.”
I get this too. I have less and less patience and I’ll take shortcuts just to get things done as fast as possible. These days I’m considering just running my whole machine on a virtual machine via something like Xen so that I can take snapshots & revert when I install something shitty.
